Help KHS Animals This Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday 2025

Every animal’s story at the Kaua‘i Humane Society begins with their intake photo — the condition they arrived to us. From that moment, our team provides medical care, comfort, and guidance toward healing, love, and a forever home. Each snapshot marks a transformation made possible by you.

As we approach Giving Tuesday on December 2, we’re sharing a few of these stories to show how you are the vital connection between an shelter animal in need and the care that changes everything.

Your generosity is the red line that links rescue to recovery, fear to trust, and shelter to home.
Join us this Giving Tuesday and help connect animals to hope and care on Kaua’i.

Ronaldhino's Story

From Severe Mange and Blindness, To A Loving Foster Home

When Ronaldhino arrived through our doors in late September, he was a lone stray puppy who was underweight, partially blind, and covered in mange, a contagious skin disease. Our team got right to work, giving him a bath, antibiotics for his skin, vaccines, and daily enrichment to help him heal and build confidence.

After a few weeks under our care, he looked like a completely different dog. His fur had nearly grown back, his mange was gone, and his peppy personality began to shine as staff played with him in the yard.

Today, Ronaldhino is safe and thriving in a loving foster home as he continues his recovery and waits for adoption.

Skeletor's Story

A Lost Dog’s Journey to Strength and Recovery

When Skeletor was found as a stray on the side of the road, he was lost, starving, and weak. Upon his arrival to KHS, he was still gentle enough to give the vet team grateful kisses as they processed his intake, despite his condition Due to his extreme malnourishment, he began a careful feeding plan. He also received vaccines, a microchip, and medical care to help him regain strength and get sent back out into a foster home with supplies.

The compassionate individual who found him became his foster, giving him the calm environment he needed to heal. Now, Skeletor is thriving. He’s becoming stronger, and is patient, and loving, great with kids, and fully house- and kennel-trained—as he waits for his forever home.
